What reasonable goals! Good work :)
I can help with the lacto fermented vegetable goal. Check out my Kraut 101 here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alyssssyla/2378818221/
My other favorites are spicy carrots/onions/jalapenos, cortido, cucumber pickles and now apple/cranberry kraut. Yum!
I did a fair amount of drying last summer and they turned out great. I'm still eating my dried pears, they're delicious!

Jenny - That sounds good, I may email you. I need to do some more research before I get started, though. I have gotten that book from the library, but didn't read all the way through it. It is great, and we will be implementing some of those ideas.

Spinner - I am trying to read through the new testament this year. One chapter every weekday = the entire new testament. What is working for me right now is reading right after I get the boys down for a nap. A refreshing rest.

Candace - Yes, I am going to cut out all grains. It's so expensive, so I wanted to see if I could eat a little bit of grains this morning (oatmeal) cut with fat and protein (butter, nuts & seeds). Still felt terrible afterwords, so I am going to have to cut them out entirely, I think. It's just what my body needs right now.

I just found your blog and have spent the evening reading all your past posts. The birth story of your second child got me all teary-eyed. It's easy to get me teary-eyed right now, especially regarding babies. I love your goals for this year. They are similar to my own. How do you approach your Bible reading? Beginning to end? Do you have a set time of day? I also need to incorporate more Bible-reading into my life as well as beef up my prayer life.

Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your future posts!

Your blog is so pretty. Your post was beauuuuuutiful. We could be twins. God, hubby, children, self. I think my goals are identical. I felt the need to include personal nourishment as well...I went crazy "purging" the house of junk and getting the rest ship shape. God Bless! I'll be reading you!

I just found your blog and love it. It is great hearing a Christian talk about consumption and environment.

I'll have a kombucha scoby ready in a few weeks, email me if it interests you. Also, one of my goals is to limit canning and use more lactic-acid fermentation, drying, oil preserving and freezing instead. Have you checked out this book: Preserving Food without Freezing or Canning? It's a must.
