Ya Know what? That was a great post. When I started my "homestead" years ago I never thought of it that way. Yes the economy is in the crapper along with our mealy mouth Gov'n officials. In my opinion. They should give the american people a break . Anyway time tells all things but know this the time will come when people which they would have taken action. Here at back to basics we are for the most part self-sufficient except for all the energy, but we're working on it. I still enjoy the new toys and electroincs, big screen tv's ect. We just choose to do it different than most people.
Anyone could do what we do no matter where they live, It's a choice one has to make.
Your post was great. Thank you.

We too are trying very hard to eat better and live better! I just went to lunch with friends who looked at me like I had 3 heads for making food from scratch, growing my own veggies and not buying canned food. I didn't have the heart to mention drying my own clothes outside..... One just had to ask why ? why ? why?
I came home a little saddened that not one would say Way to go!!!! I had to call my friends who are trying to live like me and vent.... It can be at times a sad world we live in..

Shannon - I remember when you first ran this post, and I wasn't quite open to the idea at the time. God has been doing amazing work in my heart and mind, and your vision of the American Dream is definitely what I am yearning for!

What a beautiful post! It really makes you desire such a life . . . . but I know from past experience that it is a LOT of hard work and messier than it seems!

Hi! I can't remember how I got here, a link from a link from a link from a link, lol. But I LOVE everything that I've read of yours. I totally agree with you and I'm working on starting our own little garden in our backyard. And I do mean LITTLE, lol, but it's a start. I live in an area where we can plant fall and spring gardens so yay for us! I just wanted to let you know that you struck a cord in me and I'm working on buying locally and knowing exactly what we put in our mouths. Thanks for being here!!!
