What a lovely view on summer! So inspiring.
We’ve been traveling (nothing major, just short trips) and I’ve been reading/researching real food resources and just enjoying other books I’ve been meaning to get to for a while. I haven’t found much time at all for writing, but it has been nice to vacation from that for a little while, too!

thanks for sharing a snapshot of your attempt at cheese- I’m sure if I were to try, mine would be exactly like that- so it makes me feel better!

Ack – what happened to your cheese!?
I’ve had so many batches of the quick cheese go all funky on me – most of them are rescued with a little baking soda, and plenty of Dijon mustard.
And we’ve been listening to Farmer Boy a LOT lately… My boys love it.

HI! I am in love with your newly-found blog! I’ve been reading for just a couple of days and had to comment when I saw your read-aloud book. We just finished that SAME ONE and have now moved on to Farmer Boy. Also, I’ve just begun experimenting with making cheese, too, after attending a class at my organic, raw milk-supplying farm. And lastly, I had to laugh because I had the same experience with being overwhelmed after reading Nourishing Traditions. I ordered my own copy and now, about a month later, I’ve just soaked my first oatmeal this weekend and am *almost* worked up to trying my first lacto-fermenting experiments. So thanks for your incredible blog and all of the helpful info!

I have the same heart for simple things and nutrition as you do. I just can’t seem to break from the conventional lifestyle. I’ll have a few good months and then have to break from it because life gets in the way
It dosen’t help that my husband dosen’t always share the same priorities (does ANY spouse?)… But he DID offer and start the milk in the crockpot for yogurt for me this morning before work at 5am… I even started a blog a few years ago (go ahead and check it out if you want)… But in my striving to get back to healthy living, I am trying to make a point to read these things that inspire me. I actually started reading the Little House books last June (I’m waiting for my library to have “The First Four Years” back in) and am fortunate to live in southern Minnesota where we can see the places Laura lived on just a 1 or 2 hour drive. Its so inspiring to me to live simply and self-sufficiently, (and healthier) too.
I’ve just subscribed to your blog and am looking forward to inspiring posts that are right there with my own heart
I know they will help me on my own journey. Thanks so much for the inspiration
