What Real Food Bloggers Really Eat: Cara of Health, Home, and Happiness

Today’s real food journal comes from mama Cara of Health, Home, and Happiness. Cara doesn’t have any food allergies herself, but…

My daughter is still on GAPS, so it’s easiest to just cook what she can eat too.

Cara provided us with a bulleted list for her food journal.

Everything I ate on 3/19/10

  • Handful of crispy almonds
  • Coffee with coconut milk as my ‘creamer’
  • Chicken pancakes (chicken, eggs, salt, banana- all fried in coconut oil)
  • Sauerkraut
  • Water
  • Liver and onions
  • Water
  • Two fruit leathers (100% fruit, but from a package. Stretch Island brand)
  • Hot Cocoa (water, coconut milk, honey, cocoa powder)
  • Smoothie (goat yogurt, frozen blueberries, banana, coconut oil, two raw eggs)
  • Crispy almonds
  • Cheese and smoked salmon
  • Fish patties (fresh caught trout, eggs, almond flour, salt and pepper- fried in coconut oil)
  • Steamed broccoli and cabbage with coconut oil and salt (we were out of butter)
  • More hot chocolate

Cara is a wife and mother of two in Montana who blogs about real food at Health, Home, and Happiness.  She enjoys cooking and didn’t realize how much she ate until writing it all down for Nourishing Days!

Thank you, Cara, for sharing your food journal. It does not seem like too long of a list for a breastfeeding mama.

    1. Good point about the coconut milk. It sounds really good in the cocoa too. A lot of really good suggestions – using goat yogurt in a smoothie and chicken pancakes. I’d like to see the recipe for the pancakes.

  1. Those fish patties sound yummy indeed.

I am loving the coconut milk as a creamer. Coconut milk is one of my favorite foods – I LOVE it in smoothies!

  2. It would be a nightmare to keep track of everything I eat in one day! I’m such a muncher and take the “one for you one for me” approach whenever making meals!
