Today's Simple Woman's Daybook

I’m a bit behind in posting some recipes and requested topics, but I will try to get to them this week.

For today, though, I thought it would be fun to post a simple woman’s daybook. I am turning a year older today. As I say good-bye to twenty five, it is nice to reflect on all that I have been given this past year and today.

For February 2, 2009

Outside my window… I hear the cars drive by during the morning commute. It is still dark, but I am hoping for another day of sunshine and above freezing temperatures.

I am thinking… Today is going to be a busy day. A lot of my food preparations for the week happen on Mondays and today is no exception.

I am thankful for… Another year filled with life and love. A clean kitchen on a Monday morning. A stocked pantry and freezer after a big shopping day yesterday.

From the learning rooms… More books from the library on shapes and colors. I am loving the sound of our little man singing the ABCs at the top of his lungs to Grandpa when he comes to visit. And now, for some reason, he busts into counting starting from 11 and going to 20 – I love it!

From the kitchen… One of my favorites tonight – roast chicken dinner, braised cabbage, millet and peas. Breakfast will be started shortly and include grapefruit, farm fresh eggs and sourdough toast. I will be preparing breakfast for the whole week today as well – baked oatmeal and an egg breakfast casserole.

I am wearing… A cotton button down flowered shirt and a beautiful new linen skirt.

I am creating… A new look for my site! I am hoping to have it finished by the end of the week. I have been wrangling CSS sheets for a couple of weeks now and I’m ready to be done.

I am going… to stay home today. We had many outings yesterday – the library, Trader Joe’s, health food store. It will be nice to be home today.

I am reading… Love & Respect with my husband. We haven’t (and probably won’t) finish reading this, but the premise of the book is so applicable to all marriages it seems. I highly recommend it.

I am hoping… for a big garden this spring. I know it’s a bit early, but we can’t wait for spring to clear away some space and get started.

I am hearing… my toddler talking to himself as he wakes up. Other than that it’s peacefully quiet.

Around the house… there is laundry to wash, hang and fold. There are dishes to be put away and a floor that needs vacuuming.

One of my favorite things… tea on a cold winter morning. I make a double mugful of chai when we have it. Chai is my favorite with stevia and a splash of raw cream, raw milk or almond milk.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Kitchen work today, hoping to get all of our papers filed and organized later in the week and read lots of new library books with the little one.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…
