Admiring the things we do not plant.

Harvesting the things we do (1 huge bowl full of kale!).

Tending to those that need a little support.

Seeing the beauty in those the world normally casts aside.

Appreciating how some things (comfrey) can be both utilitarian and beautiful.

Clearing out (at least some of) the weeds to create order.

Spending a few minutes at dusk sewing on a blanket, soaking in the last of the day’s gifts…

while little ones happily bring you piles of leaves and dandelions… such a testament to "It is the thought that counts."

Today is supposed to be the one rain-free day of the rest of the week so we will be hanging laundry, planting warm weather seeds & seedlings, and having "school" in the garden. Reading lessons and indoor chores can wait for another rainy day.

How are you spending your sunny days?

Your pictures are gorgeous! Next time have your son make a salad from the kale and the dandelions (assuming no chemicals are used on them)!

Monique – Great idea! I probably should have mentioned, though, that the dandelions were the flowers gone to seed, not the greens. They were eating the kale I harvested that morning straight from the bowl, which I take as a good sign :) .

I spend my sunny days tending my garden (hoping it does better this summer), walking, and being out with my dog, letting her roam and sniff the trail of something while I read.

i wish we had sunny days but still more rain this week. although we’re getting a bit sick of being stuck inside, i am grateful for the rain because everything is so beautiful and green. the things i have been able to plant (between storms) haven’t popped up yet but hopefully soon. :)

Stacey – I know… it seems like everyone is getting lots of rain. It rained all week except Tuesday… which I spent a good chunk of planting and preparing beds. But now everything is under water, so we shall see.

We are enjoying our sunny days outside too– actually welcomed a little overcast to cool things off today. We have a bit of a different view in our outdoors since we live in the desert. We have mountains, red rock, red dirt, tumbleweeds, and lots of it all. There are so many different beauties in this world.
