Wild Hogs Beneath a Texas Sky

Late last week we got a call that some wild hogs had been trapped and would we want them? Sure, was the response so as the sun began to sink lower in the sky, two of them were brought home and we prepared for butchering. By the time we finished the first one, the sun was replaced by a Texas-sized sky full of stars, but not before a great show of thunderheads rolled on by.

Monday morning we got a similar call and so between the three hogs, we were able to fill our solar-powered freezer with fresh meat. (You can find the details of our solar-powered refrigerator/freezer in The Doable Off-Grid Homestead.)

We have had a lot of reminders recently of the many unexpected ways the Lord provides. Oftentimes I can’t tell you where this or that might come from or how it is that He may give us what we need… and oftentimes it is completely inexplicable and made all the more clear that it all comes directly from His hand.

But provide He will; everything that is needful, everything that is asked for according to His will… this much I know for sure.
