Bringing Kune Kune Pigs to the Homestead

We have long wanted to add pigs to our homestead and pork to our meat supply. We’ve done a couple of turns at keeping some local wild hogs given to us but it was all spur of the moment and done in a more confined space than we were hoping our long-term solution would be….

A Boy and His Steer

It is a rare occurrence that I am out in the (very rundown) pasture at the same time as the children but it just so happened I was there a couple of weeks ago to capture something I didn’t even know was happening. I was out there helping Stewart and happened to have my camera…

Cheeseburger Skillet: Feeding a Large Family Real Food on a Budget

Hello and Welcome!

about

We're Stewart and Shannon. We live off-grid on our little Texas homestead with our seven children. While homeschooling our children we work together as a family to try to grow as much of our own food as we can. We write about nourishing a family on real food, raising animals, gardening in a hot climate, off-grid living, parenthood, and The Only Savior of Sinners, Jesus Christ. Thanks for being here!
