Today: Introduction.
Thursday was an absolutely lovely day. It was possibly one of the most relaxing and joy-filled Thanksgivings I have ever had. Up until the past few years Thanksgiving was always about eating a huge meal with your family and then watching football or passing out. When I started attempting to be more mindful about all…
Canned salmon is humble, real food at it’s finest. So it is nice to have a little variety and add a little something special to this simple pantry food. That is why I have reworked my Italian style salmon cakes with lemon-caper butter to produce a Mexican flavored dish that uses much of the same…
Most people have had pumpkin seeds. If you buy a whole pumpkin to cook for the flesh, then you also can roast the seeds and eat them. Did you know you can do the same thing with butternut squash? I am assuming you can do it for any squash, but butternut is the only kind…
The coziness of fall has given me the itch to produce things in preparation for winter. Please join me over the next week (or two) as I share my series on making. Do you remember in October when we were peeling dozens of apples for making apple butter? It seemed wasteful to put all of…
This is a great bread for those who are looking for something gluten free and lower in carbohydrates at the same time. Coconut oil, and coconut products in general, are fantastic for anyone who is looking to lose weight and improve their health. Coconut oil not only increases your metabolism, but it helps keep you…
This article was originally published in December of 2010. Giving up soda in college was fairly easy for me. I had a severe stomach ache all of the time and one day I decided to try life without cherry coke. I started to feel a little bit better so I didn’t drink another drop of…

Hi, I read your post on H2B@H. Do you know there are quite a lot of chocies of herbs you could take to build your milk supply up so you wouldn’t have to give the baby homemade formula?
Erin – Yep. I have taken every herb I could get my hands on, pumped around the clock, eaten every galactogogue in the book. I have a low thyroid that I am working on healing, which I suspect is the root cause of the milk supply issues. Thank you for your comment.
I read your guest post and wanted to comment about your milk supply issue. I nursed my 3 children from 12-18 months each and had supply problems with one of them. My doctor placed me on Reglan for a few weeks to help increase my supply. This medication is used for stomach problems or something not normally associated with lactation but it was successful in my friend and I.
He made several phone calls and read material about it before prescribing it but it works!
I also pumped on one side while the baby nursed on the opposite side every time or at least every other time to boost the demand.
Just a few tips that I thought you would like to hear to go back to all natural if possible.
