A Video Tour of the Homestead

Stewart recently put together a video for his grandfather. This video is a guided tour of our homestead done by a handful of my favorite little people.

Once finished he sat me down and showed it to me. There were smiles and laughter and those unexplainable mommy happy tears. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

  12. Oh, my; I was enthralled. Your kids are adorable and any grandparent would be thrilled to receive a video like this. This reminds me of our family growing up so long ago. Love your website and all the news you send along. It is fun to watch your family grow and learn. God bless you all.

  13. Well, I cried, too…and I’m neither a mom nor a crier! I love the scene with your little one skipping in the beginning…I love how he’s so proud to tell grandpa about what’s going on around the homestead and is sure to personally address grandpa in every scene…I love love the dancing scene…then the ultimate ending scene…the look on your daughter’s face as she watches her two brothers scoot in close to her…you could almost hear her little mind wondering, “What are you two doing?…what’s going on here?”..then she seems satisfied that both of them are just sitting next to her, so she looks at the camera and grins. Priceless. What a lovely family.

  14. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ! May God Bless You All With Health, Happiness and A Whole Lot Of Energy……..
What A Wonderful Family Homestead and How About Those Three Little Cuties……. Hugs

  15. Oh my, that was super cute 🙂 Thank you for sharing a little of your life with us. I enjoyed it very much!

  16. What a great family vid! Totally awesome! And frankly, the slow-watering milk jug planters is about the smartest thing I have seen in a very long time. I am going to plant some kale, some lettuces, and some spinach this spring using that method.

  17. Wonderful! A joy to watch! What do you plan to do with your moringa? I am planning to plant moringa for high protein goat food, but I know it has a million uses…..

    1. Hi DeAnna,

Thanks for the question! I’ve got big dreams for our Moringa. 🙂 I’m hoping to eventually get enough growing that we can rely upon them as our own vitamin powder. I’ve taken Moringa capsules as a supplement before and they seemed to help me feel better. We also plan to use them for salads and more. Your goat idea is interesting because we would like to get milk goats at some point in the future. I’m hoping to get enough plants going someday that we can feed our animals without needing to purchase any feed. Another plant I would like to have growing everywhere is the Siberian Pea Shrub. It produces great self-scattering chicken feed (or so I’ve read). The Siberian Pea Shrub also fixes nitrogen into the soil.

If you end up using Moringa it for your goats someday and it works out well please let us know! Oh, one more thought. We recently learned of and purchased seeds for something called Sunn Hemp. It isn’t “Hemp” but is supposed to be a really fast growing plant that goats really like (crop in 60 days). http://www.petcherseeds.com/about-sunn-hemp/

  18. After a day of “yuckiness” on the internet, this was refreshing. Thank you. Kids are adorable, and the homestead looks like it is coming along. We’re right there with you on our little one acre “dream” 🙂

  19. Well done. For raising a beautiful bunch of kids, for having such pride in your homestead, for sharing it with us, for showing us kids playing in the dirt and swinging from trees and being so proud about garlic! It really made my heart sing. Thank you.

  20. The video was great. Praise God for all you were able to accomplish this past year! Your children are beautiful. God Bless.

  21. Beautiful! What an awesome video. Just curious, what was the second song played in the background?

  22. Beautiful. The most important thing you are cultivating is your children, your family. It is obvious that all of this wraps into your family life. The respect your children show for you, their grandpa, their baby sister, and secondly, the land and the animals is all so refreshing!
Isn’t it wonderful to see children absolutely enjoying the outdoors and God’s creation instead of being plugged into an electronic device? And, money and possessions do not equal happiness.

  23. Beautiful video! What kind of video camera do you use?

I hope to one day have my own land to be sufficient! So happy for you guys!
