The Goings On… and some news

Hi. I took this photo so long ago that this just-opening sunflower is now drooping down from the weight of its giant, yellow head.

You haven’t even heard about the 40-some odd chicks and chickens we added to the flock… and the egg hunts that ensued.

The nightly sigh of relief we all breathe as the sun goes down and another 100ish degree day comes to an end.

And this little winter squash, if picked today, could rival a big chubby baby in my arms. Speaking of babies…

Is there a delicate way to say a bun is in the oven, we are with child, I’m in the family way, vegetables aren’t the only thing we’re growing, Lord willing this winter we will be a family of 6? If so, please share, because I haven’t quite figured that one out yet.

  1. Love the post… such lovely news to share, congratulations. May I ask a totally off-topic question? Do you battle squash bugs, lol? I am daily murdering a dozen or more squash bugs and the moths with the red/orange bodies that deposit the squash vine borers. Have lost 2 winter squash and a bush zucchini, thought the latter I believe actually expired due to the pyrethin, supposedly acceptable for organic use but boy did it burn the leaves of my bush zucchini. These bugs are really wearing me down……..
